A Note from the Artist: Stefan Wenger
From March until October 2005 I have worked in a course and holiday centre in the Centovalli, a valley in canton Ticino (Campo Rasa, VBG, community of Intragna). The idyllic place is only accessible by aerial passenger line or on foot. During this time I made some hikes and excursions where I could not only collect photographic experiences but also some stones and out washed wood.
A result of all this is the series 'river landscapes in Ticino'. Several times I perambulated the bed of the nearby river 'Proggia'. I have taken the exhibited photos in this place. Animated through Martin Streckeisen, a passionate amateur photographer who works in Campo Rasa, I surveyed this river landscape very carefully and from a near distance. It is amazing what one can see from this distance! I am fascinated again and again by the beauty and complexity of nature. This is also why I love to try out new perspectives with the camera.
I have taken the pictures with an analogue reflex camera (Minolta Dynax 404si).
