1. Treasury
Chris opens today’s meeting. Our treasurer Tanja wants to leave the Arts Council after many years’ membership. Franz expresses his thanks to Tanja for her hard work. All the present members applaud her.
Tanja shortly presents last year’s finances. The Arts Council’s bank account balance has diminished from 30’000.- SFr to 13’000.- SFr. Tanja reminds the Arts Council, though, that "place name here" has made a profit of ~700.- SFr (according to Alexander) and that around 5000.- SFr will be returned to the Arts Council. Franz states that the upcoming Panto should get us some money too.
Since no one directly suggests taking over the treasury Tanja is thinking of doing it for another year. David suggests taking over the treasury. But he will only do so in February 2009, since he will do his stay abroad next autumn semester (2009). Julian will then take over the secretary in February 2009 since David cannot do both. Julian too will do his stay abroad next autumn semester.
2. New supervisors
Tanja says that we need two new supervisors, since the current ones are not really linked to the university anymore and no one really knows who they are. Franz says that he will talk to Regula (one of the supervisors) because Tanja needs to discuss the last year with her.
It is said that the supervisors have to come from outside the board and that they have to go through the finances.
Christiane suggests asking the former members. Regula König would be a good choice. Also Julia Gwerder is mentioned. Tanja will therefore talk to Regula König and Julia Gwerder and ask them whether they would like to be the new supervisors for the Arts Council.
Franz suggests uploading all the finances on ilias, so that the members and most of all the supervisors can check it online. Alexander says that he’ll try that out. Tanja states that all the members would have to be “webmasters” for ilias then.
Tanja also reminds Chris that she needs a summary from him by email in order to have an official affirmation from the chair. She also says that the minutes always need to be signed by the chair and the secretary.
To sum up: Tanja will continue with the treasury till next February when David will take over. Julian will then take over the secretary.
3. New department representative
Since Christiane Schlote will be leaving the department in summer 2009, the Arts Council will need a new department representative. It is decided ask Margret Mace-Tessler, Beatrix Busse and Ursula Kluwick. Chris will contact them in this order (Margret first).
4. Replacement for David and Julian during the Autumn Semester
Since Julian and David will do their stay abroad during the autumn semester someone has to take over their positions. Assunta will take over the secretary for one semester and Cloé will take over Julian’s position as PR person. All members of the Arts Council agree on that.
5. AOB
- David informs the Arts Council that the postcards cannot be printed in four different colours since this will cost us four times more than if they were printed in one colour only. In order to decide on a colour, David will send the white and the red postcard to all members and will set up a doodle. It is decided that the cartoon on the back of the postcard should be in colour as well. Tanja says that she hasn’t paid the money to the cartoonist so far but that she will do so as soon as possible.
- David reminds everyone to send their photos to Björn in order to put them on the website.
- Chris informs the Arts Council that the text he should write for the website is an introductory text to the Drama Society and not to the Arts Council. The problem is that the Drama Society still hasn’t got a name.
All the members are asked to send three ideas for a name per email till the end of next week in order to find one.
- Alex says that the castings for the Panto will be soon.
- Franz says that he will organise an event with poetry and music of the 50ies-70ies by the beginning of next semester.
- Tanja says that she’s still thinking of another Murder Mystery.
- Franz suggests having another concert with Dick Watts and Dewi Williams in the AliBaba which could be done in the name of the Arts Council 11th anniversary.
- The Arts Council discusses organising a Hobbit party at the beginning of next term. One could do one act plays and Dick Watts could play some music. This party would be organised as a fund rising for the Arts Council.
