1. Introduction of the Arts Council (Chris)
Chris welcomes the present students at the General Assembly of the Arts Council. He introduces them the Arts Council as being a committee which provides money for cultural projects.
All the members then introduce themselves and inform what their responsibilities are.
2. Approval of members
All the members of the Arts Council are approved of by the present students. In addition, Chris mentions that if anyone is interested in joining the Arts Council they will be warmly welcomed.
3. Financing (Tanja)
Tanja presents the financing of 2008. The Arts Council has gained a lot of money mostly because the theatre production ‘As You Like It’ directed by Eva Grädel and Julia Gwerder was a huge success. The balance is now at 23.041.95 SFr.
Everyone present approves of the finances.
4. Presenting future projects
Alex again informs the students about the Film Club and invites them to the forthcoming movie on the 20th of October 2008.
Alex also informs the students that currently rehearsals for the play ‘
Björn then informs that David and himself are planning to stage Samuel Beckett’s ‘Endgame’ around May 2009 and that Simon Hicks has agreed to direct it.
Alex then talks about the planned Panto (written by Franz). He says that he’s willing to direct it but that he does not have the time to organise it. He informs the students that the Arts Council currently is looking for people who would organise the project.
5. Sub-committee (Chris)
Chris announces that next year (2009) the English Department is celebrating its 111th and the Arts Council its 11th anniversary. Therefore the Arts Council is planning to organise a multitude of projects. In order to do that the Arts Council is looking for students who would join a sub-committee. The sub-committee would help the Arts Council organising these projects. The projects would be the following:
- Shakespeare Roadshow
- Panto
- Endgame
- Murder Mystery
- Poetry Road Show
- Multilingual Poetry Slam
- ...
Chris also mentions that students can get ETMs for organising or helping with a project.
