1. Approval of Minutes

The minutes of the last meeting (November 10, 2006) are approved without opposition. The minutes of the last General Assembly (December 6, 2005) are also approved by all.

2. Introduction of the Arts Council (Simon)

Simon very briefly recapitulates how the Arts Council was founded, but does not elaborate since all the students present already know what the Arts Council is all about. He emphasises the fact that the Arts Council was founded after the centenary year (1998), in order to invest the earned money of that year. What is important about the Arts Council, and what many do not know, is that it does not only support theatre projects, but also any other art project (ranging from film and music to exhibitions, etc.).

3. Annual Report and Presentation of the New Logo (Angela)

As the substitute chair, Angela gives an account on the activities of the Arts Council in the year 2006 (see appendix of this protocol for all the points mentioned). She lists the different projects that have been financed, as well as other changes, such as a newly designed webpage and a new logo. Connected to this last point, she also presents the new logo (designed by Marcel Röthlisberger).

4. Re-elections and Elections of the New Members

The new members are: Angela Kummer (treasurer and substitute chair), Regula Koenig (secretary), and Alexandra DePeyer (responsible for props). They, as well as the old members (see above), are approved by the general assembly.

5. Presentation of the New Webpage (Cindy)

Cindy presents the new webpage (http://www.artscouncil.unibe.ch) to the general assembly, explaining the structure and contents. Also, she presents a list of ideas that 'are in the making'. Generally, the new webpage finds approval, and it is made clear that the page is still 'in progress'.

Cindy also announces the forthcoming newsletter that will be sent around with information on the Arts Council and the projects taking place. Anyone can subscribe and will receive the newsletter by e-mail.

Cindy asks both the attending students as well as the members of the board to mail her important information, or if there is a problem concerning the webpage. She will gather the information and change the webpage accordingly.

6. Presentation and Approval of the Finances (Angela)

Angela (treasurer) presents the accounts of the Arts Council and the expenses/income in the year 2006. Since the year is not over yet, she cannot give a detailed final account until the next General Assembly. However, with this in mind, the General Assembly approves the finances.

Angela also asks for volunteers for the replacement of Ruth Bigler and Regula Renggli as auditors, but unfortunately no one is willing to take up this task. The Arts Council decides to postpone the search to another meeting.

7. Approval of Statutes

The revised statutes are approved by all with no opposition.

8. Information about Forthcoming Projects

Lukas Hunziker announces the forthcoming One-Act-Play Evening, which includes over thirty students and several plays. He asks for help in the search of a suitable venue and invites everyone to come along to the performances (so far the dates are set on the 25th and 26th of January - the corrected dates, at the time of writing, are the 22nd and 24th of January).

Simon introduces the 'Hoffmann Project' which will take place on the 23rd and 24th of January. This project includes the storytelling of a play by Roald Hoffmann, as well as a lecture, and is organised/sponsored in connection with the Chemistry department.

9. AOB

There is a DVD available from the panto (Sleeping Beauty), made by Kurt Graber. Franz is currently in possession of the original, and the Arts Council will ask him to do a copy in order to put it on the webpage.

As always, new members are needed, since Simone Ingold and Samuel Linder will leave the Arts Council. Angela asks the General Assembly to inform other students who might be interested. Anyone who would like to join the Arts Council should contact either Regula or Angela.

Minutes: January 11 by Regula Koenig
